Captain Bill Kennedy
Captain Kennedy entered into the U.S. Army & Reserves in January 1975 commencing into his retirement from the armed forces in February 2005.
Captain Kennedy began his career with the Talladega County Sheriff's Office in August 1991 as a part-time deputy. In June 1995 he was hired on as a full-time deputy. His career with the sheriff's office then proceeded onto being promoted to Investigator in July 1995; promoted to Narcotic's Sergeant in January 1998; assigned as the Drug and Violent Crime Task Force Commander in October 2002; promoted to Investigator Lieutenant/Sex Offender Coordinator in October 2004; promoted to Patrol Captain in October 2008; and has thus proceeded on to being assigned to Captain of Investigations in February 2011. Captain Kennedy's other duties include being training coordinator and grant coordinator.
Captain Howard Bussie
Captain Bussie graduated from the Talladega Academy in 1972. Upon graduation, he went to work for CSX Railroad where he remained until 1975 when he resigned to go to work for the family business, Bussie Oil Company.
On May 1, 1985, Captain Bussie began his career with the Talladega County Sheriff's Office as Deputy Sheriff. In 1993 he was promoted to Sergeant; in 2006 he was promoted to Lieutenant, and thus ultimately resulting in being promoted to the rank of Captain in 2011 and assuming the command of the Patrol Division.
Captain Ron Smith
Captain Ron Smith began his law enforcement career with the Talladega Police Department in 1978 as a Patrolman advancing on to Detective and then to Detective Sergeant. In 1984 he left the Talladega Police Department to work for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He was stationed at FCI in Talladega, AL, FDC in Oakdale, LA, and FCI in Englewood, CO. During his employment with the Bureau of Prisons he worked as a Correctional Officer, Correctional Counselor, and was promoted to Lieutenant. He also performed collateral duties such as Security Officer, Instructor, Disturbance Control, and Special Operations Response. In 2004 Captain Smith retired from the Bureau of Prisons and began his employment with the Talladega County Sheriff's Office.
Captain Smith's career with the Sheriff's Office started as being a Deputy Sheriff assigned to Court Security, Patrol Deputy, School Resource Officer, Patrol Lieutenant, Jail Lieutenant, and ultimately being promoted to Captain, serving as the Jail Administrator, in 2013.
